After my research stay, I spent my holiday trekking through the Himalaya. Since I was traveling during monsoon season, I chose the Nar Phu Valley as my first destination. This valley is very dry because it lies in the monsoon shadow behind the massive Annapurna range, close to the Tibetan border. From there, I combined the trek with the famous Annapurna Circuit via a high mountain pass.

I was lucky to be joined by Zeewan a local mountain guide (and international Ultra Trail Marathon runner) who I had met on my first hike to Mardi Himal. Together, we crossed some of the most mind-blowing and diverse landscapes I have ever seen: high mountain and rock glaciers, alpine lakes, and remote tibetan villages, buddhist monasteries a sacred buddhist cave and encountered plenty of wildlife and fascinating plant life.

For the stats: in 13 days we ate 29 Dal Bhats , an uncountable number of coconut cookies, walked nearly 300 km, and climbed around 15,000 meters of elevation (including exploratory side treks). In this blog post, I will share some of my favorite photos from this unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
